SunTec successfully implements Interconnect billing solutions for HFCL Infotel Ltd

HFCL Infotel becomes one of the first known telecom operators to have fully implemented Interconnect Usage Charges Regime of TRAI

SunTec Business Solutions, the Trivandrum- based customer care and billing solution provider has successfully implemented the Interconnect billing solutions for HFCL Infotel Ltd. (HITL), the networking arm of the Himachal Futuristic Communication Ltd. (HFCL) a leading telecom operator in Punjab. SunTec's Retail Billing solution, Transaction Business Management System (TBMS) was installed at HITL eighteen months back.

"Our decade long expertise in the Indian and International Telecom domain made it easy for us to understand and implement the new requirement of Interconnect in a short duration for HITL. HITL has expressed its satisfaction over the swiftness with which we reacted to their demand for a solution to manage diverse revenue sharing agreements with multiple partners in full compliance with the norms of the TRAI. TBMS is designed to handle hundreds of millions of transactions per day which will also take care of any increase of volumes HITL will have in future." said Mr. Nandakumar, President and CEO of SunTec Business Solutions .

SunTec's TBMS offers sophisticated functionality and robust processing combined with infinite scalability, ease of use and fast implementation based on open standards components to deliver the best price/performance and lowest cost of ownership, compared to other products. TBMS is designed with the Oracle Database at the back-end, Application Server in the middle tier and the Browser in the front-end. Parallel processing architecture of the rating engine facilitates high speed pricing of large volume transaction records. APIs are provided in all the engines in TBMS for seamless integration to other applications and database in the service platform.

HITL offers a wide range of services encompassing voice, data and video, via single connectivity using its broadband telecom network, as also mobile telephony based on CDMA technology, to customers. The portfolio also includes high-end services which are Internet connectivity, ISDN, leased lines, Centrex, web hosting and server co-location. In fact HITL has been one of the first Indian companies to implement customer retention strategies like offering more innovative and bundled product packages both in-house as well as through partners. HITL now enjoys the distinction of becoming one of the first telecom operators in India to fully support all regulatory requirements put forward by TRAI on the Interconnect settlement scenario.

Mr. Rakesh Mehta, Head of Billing, said, "HITL, like all Indian telecom operators was faced with the challenge of implementing the TRAI's complex IUC regime. The company had Interconnect agreements with fixed line/mobile operators, National Long Distance (NLD) as well as International Long Distance carriers (ILD)". On the implementation of Interconnect billing solution he said "It has really assisted us in settling revenues with other operators and premium service providers over a period. We now have the capability to handle both direct and cascade settlement models with our partners. Our operational ability in terms of managing Interconnect settlement and periodic reconciliation with operators will be enhanced with this highly flexible solution."
